The Indonesian independence struggle brought an end to Dutch colonial rule in Asia. A history that still divides. But what exactly happened? And how did Indonesians experience their fight for independence? The Belgian historian and writer David van Reybrouck conducted six years of research and spoke to the very last witnesses of this history in the Netherlands and Indonesia, but also in Japan and Nepal. In his theatre production Revolusi: een levende geschiedenis (Revolusi: a living history) David teaches us to look at the Dutch East Indies with different eyes. And he explains why an independent Indonesia changed the world forever.
