Closed Eyes
Theater Rotterdam / Alida Dors

In this new performance by Alida Dors, dance, film, music and spoken word will transport you to Ganzee, a sunken village in Suriname's Brokopondo Lake. Six dancers, three musicians and a vocalist create a world where the impossible becomes possible.

Closed Eyes

Artistic director of Theater Rotterdam, Alida Dors (1977), theatre maker and choreographer, embodies the principles from hip-hop culture: learning by doing, crew mentality and each one teach one. The polyphony of her teams resonates in all her performances.

With each crew member's individuality, with text, with music, and a powerful, rich dance language, one and one is always at least three in Alida's work. Her adventurous dance chronicles incorporate influences from hip-hop and modern dance and are socially and politically aware, urgent and relevant.

Closed Eyes is a 'language no problem' dance performance directed and choreographed by Alida Dors, artistic director at Theater Rotterdam and can be seen in January 2024 at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA).
