An evening with David Grossman & Arnon Grunberg
On Wednesday, November 23, writer Arnon Grunberg welcomes David Grossman to Internationaal Theater Amsterdam for an interview about his work. The conversation will be accompanied by performances and music in a co-production of Erasmus Prize Foundation and ITA. It promises to be a very special evening, with theatre scenes by Dror Keren (A Horse Walks Into A Bar, Tel Aviv) and Rotem Carmeli (Her Body Knows, Tel Aviv), a recitation by Nazmiye Oral, and music by cellist Maya Fridman.

David Grossman
David Grossman is the winner of the Erasmus Prize 2022. He started out as a radio presenter before rising to international prominence in 1989 with his novel See Under: Love (1986), about the Shoah as seen through the eyes of a child. He has frequently voiced his support for peace in the Middle East. In 2006, he and Amos Oz called for an end to the attacks on Lebanon, shortly after which his own son was killed in the same war. That event became the subject of his 2011 book Falling Out of Time, which was adapted for the stage on numerous occasions. Grossman has been the recipient of various literary awards, including the Prix Médicis Étranger, the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Geschwister-Scholl-Preis. His 2015 novel A Horse Walks Into a Bar won the prestigious Man Booker International Prize and received rave reviews around the world.
Arnon Grunberg
Arnon Grunberg was awarded the P.C. Hooft-prijs 2022 for his contribution to Dutch literature. The jury describes Grunberg as 'a writer who is unparalleled in ambition, productivity and intellectual strength'. Among his most acclaimed novels are his debut Blue Mondays (1997) and The Asylum Seeker (2003). His 2006 novel Tirza has been translated into 14 languages and was made into a movie. His work has already received many literary awards, including the Johannes Vermeerprijs 2022.
