Nominees

On Monday 20 June, the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK) announced the nominees for the Amsterdam Prize 2022. These are visual artist Bodil Ouédraogo, circus organisation Circusbende and rap duo Ocho & Ibs (category Stimulation Award), documentary 'Jason' by filmmaker Maasja Ooms, online radio station Echobox and artwork 'Black Water' by RAAAF (category Work of the Year). In the category Proven Quality, the prize is awarded directly to the winner. This will be announced - together with the winners from the other two categories - at the award ceremony in October this year.

Mirror of the city

Laurien Saraber, director of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, on the nominees for the Amsterdam Prize for the Arts 2022: "The Amsterdam Prize celebrates the unstoppable energy of makers and cultural organisations in Amsterdam. I think it is wonderful to see how the six nominees hold up a mirror to us, inspire us and challenge us to look at the city with different eyes. Creators like them are fundamental to this creative city.
-|-
Like no other, the nominees master the art of giving new meanings to places in Amsterdam, they know how to connect neighbourhood and world. With their powerful work they colour outside the lines, and outside the ring. Together they are making Amsterdam a cultural metropolis."
