Goal, vision and mission
Goal
The International Theater Amsterdam Foundation strives for and aims to:
- producing, programming and presenting theater in the broadest sense of the word
- the organization and implementation of other cultural, artistic and educational projects
- the management and operation of the theater on Leidseplein in Amsterdam
- to participate, manage and supervise companies in any way for the purpose of the above description.
The foundation is not focused on making a profit.
Vision
ITA: a lighthouse for theater and dance at national and international level
The merger of Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and Toneelgroep Amsterdam to International Theater Amsterdam (ITA) is the product of a joint vision for the future, in which a lighthouse of contemporary and international theater with a wingspan extends from the Amsterdam neighborhoods to the whole world burns in the heart of Amsterdam.
As a result of the merger, a unique theater has emerged on Leidseplein. ITA is a house where theater and company together form a large institution that programs, produces and inspires based on a contemporary vision. It is the home of an international repertoire company that manages to attract the largest international directors. In addition, we offer the best in the field of leading, large-scale, national and international theater and dance performances, in-depth programs around the shows and current affairs, youth theater and - incidentally - music theater.
We open windows and doors to bring the world in and introduce Amsterdam to them. Through the same open windows and doors we introduce the world to what Amsterdam is concerned with.
ITA is an interdisciplinary center that focuses on leading (inter) national theater makers and choreographers, contemporary theater and dance productions, supplemented with multidisciplinary theater / dance, in-depth programs around the performances and current affairs, youth theater and - incidentally - music theater.
Mission
Strong programming throughout the year,
both in Amsterdam and in the rest of the Netherlands and the world, is
ITA's mission. The combination of SSBA and TA in ITA creates added value
through the connection of programming with production. Supply and
demand are therefore perfectly matched, creating broader, all-embracing
relationships with and between artists and the public; both nationally
and internationally.

Code Cultural Governance
The Supervisory Board

supervising the Supervisory Board. The management is responsible for the
organization. The articles of association describe which decisions
require the prior approval of the Supervisory Board, which clearly
states the limits of the statutory authority of the management board.
Financial control has been formalized through the adoption of
regulations and the formation of an audit committee.
